Looking backward...

History of My Hobby

Well, to be quite frank,I was initially not very keen on pursuing Quizzing as a hobby. While most of my friends had  so-called 'creative' hobbies which included interaction with other kids n improving their outlook etc etc,I was content to be an avid reader.I used to read whenever I had time to spare.I used to browse through the newspapers,magazines,story-books, journals and beleive-it-or-not even cook-books !!! And boy,was i severely castigated for that ! Instead of mingling with other kids of my age and playing, here I was always buried in some book or the other.

But I continued with my lissome ways and soon enough the shelves in my room were full with books. The idea of disposing them was Horrorifying to say the least. To this day,I have all the books I have bought neatly tucked away in a corner of the house & i occasionally go thru them.

Once Someone posed a trivia Question & i could'nt reply. My friends remarked 'Whatz the use of reading if you don't remember such minute details?' From that day i took to collecting trivia n QnA  and build a database of my own.

But the going has been tough.Sure enough there's lots & lots of info on the internet just to be explored but I wish I had the Time.I neglected this hobby of mine during my four years of Engineering and am picking up again now.The result is this webpage.

How it all started..

My first tryst with quizzing started way back in my school days.In my 5th standard to be precise.I represented my School in a GK competition organized by the ICSE. I was selected by a queer quirk of fate. The norm was that the students who secured the highest marks in the GK class test would represent the School. As luck would have it,the Boy who had been selected, fell sick on D-Day.I happened to be the next-highest scorer and was called up as a quick replacement from the audience.

And as they say,the rest was History. We won the competition over six other schools. And i was the toast of the class!!!
